Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. No one can tell you are wearing braces because they’re invisible! Not only are the aligners invisible, they are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are also comfortable because they have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. As a result, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. These clear braces are made with 3D computer imaging technology, and has been proven effective since the late 1990s. These braces are also great for older teens and adults who do not want to have extra attention drawn to their mouth. This is great for those that regularly engage in speaking engagements as it allows people to focus on what you are saying rather than the braces you are wearing. The goal of our orthodontist office is for you to be confident in your smile even during treatment.
Not only are the Invisalign aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in the orthodontist office getting adjustments. Since the adjustments are more gradual, there may be less pain after an adjustment.
Because Invisalign retainers are made of a clear plastic they require more care than traditional braces. The clear retainers can be broken more easily than traditional braces, so it is important to place the retainers somewhere safe when you take them out to eat food or brush your teeth. The clear plastic can also stain if you drink or eat a lot of staining foods or drinks without properly cleaning the retainers. With proper care and cleaning these problems can be avoided.
You wear each set of Invisalign aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position our orthodontist, Dr. Susan Bae, has prescribed. You’ll visit Dr. Bae about once every 6-8 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 12-18 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from patient to patient. Dr. Susan Bae works with Invisalign braces as well as other aesthetic orthodontic options such as metal braces and clear braces.
